In this video Thomas will introduce you to wines of the United States of America. There are 5 main wine countries in the US : Napa Valley, Washington Wine Country, Sonoma Wine Country, New York State wine country and Texas wine country.  California is divided into North Coast, Central Valley, Central Coast, Sierra Foothills and Southern California. 95% of exported wines from the US come from California. One of the most expensive wines in the world called Screaming Eagle is produced in Oakville – Napa Valley. The average retail price per bottle is $ 6 000. The main regions of the North Coast are Napa Valley AVA, Sonoma Valley, Corneros AVA, Russian River Valley AVA, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley AVA. Lodi is the most important part of the Central Valley, where some stunning and smoky Zinfandels are produced.  The Central Coast is 300 miles long and the top parts of the region are: Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, Monterey AVA and Paso Robles AVA.  Washington state wine is the second largest wine producing s#tate in the US. The most important grape varieties of Washington are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Riesling, in terms of the production of the top AVA’s are Columbia Valley AVA, Yakima Valley AVA and Walla Walla AVA. Oregon wine country and is divided into south and northern Sonoma. The most important grape varieties is Pinot Noir. In the north part the leader is Willamette Valley AVA, which is divided into small 11 AVA’s. The top three ones are: Dundee Hills AVA, Eola-Amity Hills AVA and Ribbon Ridge AVA. In the southern part the two regions that you should know are Rogue Valley and Applegate Valley AVA.
New York is the fourth largest state in the US in terms of the number of wineries. The four main wine regions are Niagara and Lake Erie, Hudson River, Long Island and finally Fingers Lake AVA, where stunning Riesling are produced. Texas wine country is the most visited wine region in the US. Two of the most important regions are Texas Hill Country and Fredericksburg AVA.  The key grape varieties growing in Texas are Cabernet , Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc.
American wines are truly amazing and here couple of my favourite producers: Sequoia Grove, Seghesio, Au Bon Climat, Lokoya, Joseph Phelps, Ridge.
