Elaine and Brenna continue their tour of California’s diverse terroirs, looking at different regions throughout the Golden State. They talk through the experience of the wines soil to glass – how different soil types show up in the texture, tannin, and structure of a wine (via Pinot Noir and Cabernet), and how that informs what a restaurateur or sommelier pairs it with a meal.
Featured wines:
2018 Flowers Pinot Noir, Sea View Ridge Vineyard, Sonoma Coast
Scar of the Sea Pinot Noir, Bien Nacido Q Block, Santa Maria Valley
2014 Heitz Cabernet Sauvignon, Trailside Vineyard, Rutherford
2017 Raj Parr Wine Club Never Say Never, Dead Fred Vineyard, Coombsville
Brenna Quigley works with wine professionals in all areas of the trade, from growers in France to importers and buyers in the US, in order to precisely define the most impactful elements of their terroirs in a relevant and approachable manner. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Aquatic Biology and Geology and a Masters in Geology from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
