We have a problem. We have lots and lots and LOTS of oranges. We have 7 mature trees on our small farm in central Portugal and they produce hundreds (or maybe thousands!) of fruit.

We’ve got naval oranges, mandarins, tangerines, some kind of bitter orange (maybe Seville?) and we struggle to keep up with all the fruit dropping from the trees.

We’ve had some great suggestions of things to make with them but we’ve found the best way to use up a whole bunch is to turn them into a delicious tasting solution: orange wine.

Join us in this foodie episode where we juice over 50kg of various types of orange to make 25 litres of early-harvest orange wine.

The Story So Far
—————————
My name’s Guy. My wife Kylie and I bought an abandoned stone farmhouse and almost an acre of land in the autumn of 2020 and have been slowly (but surely) restoring it and bringing it back to its former glory. We’re renovating the house (doing most of the work ourselves) and rejuvenating the land and we’re living off grid in a large bell tent while we complete the works with a goal of building a semi-self-sufficient homestead.

Stay tuned to see what we get up to and follow our progress.
